Foods that increase testosterone (sex drive)

The male members of my family are all similar in age. Their joints have started creaking and their eye sight has started going. They are also having other problems that they would rather not mention, but these are the problems that bother them the most.

As people age their hormone levels tend to decrease. In men this means a decrease in the hormone testosterone. As the level of testosterone decreases a person can become easily tired, unable to concentrate, have decreased muscle mass, have difficulty falling asleep, have difficulty maintaining an erection, and have a decrease in their sex drive. In men this hormone is produced in the testes and is what drives their sexual desire.

You can naturally increase the level of testosterone by simply adding specific foods to your diet. Testosterone is not found in the foods we eat, but luckily some foods contain elements that lead your body to produce testosterone.

There are actually quite a few natural substances that can increase testosterone levels. Among them are:

-Zinc. Zinc is an important element which is known for raising testosterone levels as well as sperm counts. Good sources of zinc include oysters, salmon, brown rice, cheese, pine nuts, red meat, beans, turkey, milk, yogurt, and cottage cheese.

-Potassium. Potassium is necessary in testosterone production. Good sources of potassium are bananas and avocadoes.

-Vitamin A. Vitamin A ensures that reproductive organs function properly. Properly functioning testes will produce testosterone. Good sources of Vitamin A are apples, cantaloupe, pineapple, citrus fruits, salmon, spinach, tomatoes, red peppers, and carrots.

-B Vitamins. B Vitamins help keep hormone levels in balance. Good sources of B Vitamins are salmon, avocadoes, bananas, and eggs.

-Vitamin E. Vitamin E stimulates the production of testosterone. A good source of Vitamin E is asparagus.

Salmon is a super food in testosterone production as it provides zinc, Vitamin A, Vitamins B5, B6, and B12 to your system. All of which are necessary for testosterone production.

Just as there are foods that aid in the production of testosterone there are foods that should be avoided if you are trying to raise your testosterone level. You should avoid fried foods, sugar and caffeine. Sugar and caffeine over stimulate the adrenal glands which lead them to exhaustion and adrenal glands that are exhausted will not produce testosterone.

Maintaining a healthy diet high in zinc, potassium, and Vitamins A, B, and E should raise testosterone levels in no time.
